Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and your rights under UK and EU data protection law.

Who we are

Wander in France is operated by Wander In. We are the data controller for personal data processed through the Voyageur itinerary builder and this website.

What we collect and why

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Your email address and name, to identify your account and personalise your experience
  • A profile photo, if you choose to add one
  • Your Google or Facebook identity, if you sign in using those services

When you build an itinerary, we collect:

  • Your trip preferences (travel dates, region, travel party, interests, and travel style), to generate your personalised itinerary
  • Your accommodation address, if you provide one

If you subscribe to our mailing list, we collect your email address to send you the Monpazier walking tour booklet and occasional notes on exploring village France.

We process this data to provide the Voyageur service and our mailing list. Our legal basis is the performance of a contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and, for the mailing list, your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how visitors use this site and the Voyageur app. PostHog collects anonymised usage data (pages visited, features used) and is hosted on EU infrastructure. No personally identifiable information is shared with PostHog unless you are signed in to Voyageur.

We also use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel on this website to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. The Pixel records page visits and, if you use Facebook, may link those visits to your Facebook account. You can opt out via your Facebook ad settings or a browser extension such as uBlock Origin.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed from our systems. Generated itineraries are stored only for your current session. Mailing list subscribers are retained until they unsubscribe.

Who we share your data with

We use the following services to operate Voyageur:

  • Cloudflare -- our infrastructure provider, who hosts the app and stores account data. Cloudflare operates under Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers outside the EEA.
  • Clerk -- used only when signing in with Google or Facebook to verify your identity. Clerk operates under Standard Contractual Clauses.
  • Resend -- used to send transactional and newsletter emails. Resend operates under Standard Contractual Clauses.
  • Google / Facebook -- if you use social sign-in, their own privacy policies apply to that part of the flow.

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data (via Edit profile in the app)
  • Delete your account and all associated data (via Delete account in your profile, or by emailing us)
  • Withdraw consent for mailing list emails at any time (unsubscribe link in every email)
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority (UK: the ICO; France: the CNIL)
